New tools on Facebook let you customise your Feed and Reels
Facebook is enhancing its platform to better align with your interests by introducing new features that allow for more personalised content viewing. Leveraging AI technology, you can now specify in your own words what you wish to see on your Feed and Reels, and see immediate changes in your recommendations.
This update gives you greater control, enabling direct interaction with the algorithms that determine your content. This means that recommendations will become more tailored, detailed, and reflective of your personal interests. The three-dot menu on every post has been updated to provide easier access to these new customisation features.
Interact with your algorithm and adjust your content
The new feature, called Your Algorithm, allows you to directly add and manage the topics you want to appear on your Feed and Reels. It acts as a dedicated space for you to communicate your preferences. This option is accessible via the three-dot menu.
Provide feedback in your own words
If you encounter something you love or dislike, you now have more options to give feedback directly from the posts in your Feed and Reels. After selecting ‘Interested’ or ‘Not interested,’ you may be prompted with follow-up questions to elaborate on your preferences. You can express in your own words what you want to see more or less of, and your recommendations will adjust in real time. This allows for a more personal and conversational way to shape your Facebook experience.
Enhanced, interactive ranking systems
Facebook’s ranking systems are designed to present content that matters to you, utilizing various signals such as posts you interact with and watch. With the introduction of large language models, the platform is able to advance significantly. These models integrate the nuances of your interests, context, and intentions through natural language, making the algorithm more interactive.
By expressing what you want more or less of, your preferences are updated on the spot, adapting to your current interests in a single session. This advancement marks significant progress in ranking methods, blending freeform text feedback with existing understanding of your preferences to continually enhance the relevance and responsiveness of your Feed and Reels.
