Launched in 2022, SEEM provides an automated platform for energy transactions, enabling participants to submit bids and offers that can be matched in 15‑minute intervals. These purchases unlock otherwise unused transmission capacity without incurring transmission charges and allow for short-term purchases across the Southeast that might not have otherwise occurred.
The SEEM market includes approximately two dozen utilities spanning 12 states — from Florida to Missouri — and represents a combined generation capacity of more than 180,000 megawatts benefiting millions of customers.
