Waymo introduces Gemini to its custom Ojai vehicles

Waymo has integrated its Gemini AI assistant into the specially designed Ojai vehicles to offer a more personalized and convenient riding experience. While the Waymo Driver continues to handle the navigation, passengers can now interact with Gemini as an in-car assistant.

By simply tapping the Gemini icon on the vehicle’s screen, users can issue voice commands to manage cabin settings or gather information about their surroundings. For instance, you can instruct Gemini to “set the air conditioning to 65 degrees,” locate the nearest coffee shop, or provide details about a monument you are driving past.

Gemini functions independently from the Waymo Driver, remaining inactive unless initiated by the passenger. This feature enables hands-free operation and access to a wide range of information without leaving your seat.
