Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Hits a Speed Bump at Box Office: Struggles on Monday, Still Aiming for ₹220 Crore
After much anticipation and multiple delays, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups finally graced the silver screen last Wednesday. Directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring the charismatic Yash, the film promised to be one of this year’s cinematic highlights. Fans rushed to theaters with high hopes, but the reviews painted a different picture. Critics and audiences alike were left perplexed by the film’s tangled narrative and excessive violence.
Despite these hurdles, Toxic had a dazzling opening, raking in ₹101 crore net (₹120 crore gross) across India on its debut day. This made it the second-best opening in Kannada cinema history and the runner-up for Indian films this year, just behind Dhurandhar 2’s ₹103 crore.
However, as the weekend unfolded, the film’s momentum started to wane. Saturday’s earnings dropped to ₹37.65 crore, and by Sunday, they shrank further to ₹23 crore. Toxic’s box office journey took a worrying turn, with Monday’s collections plummeting to a mere ₹6.18 crore by 9 PM, according to Sacnilk.
